Visual Description
Palus Somnii appeared as a small, dark patch of mare material situated between the larger Mare Crisium to the north and Mare Tranquillitatis to the southwest. The feature showed typical mare characteristics with its smooth, dark basaltic surface, though it was notably smaller than the major maria surrounding it. The palus served as a connecting region between the larger mare basins.
